Questions:
1. Who is/are Neal Morgan Photography?
Neal Morgan Photography is owned and run by Photographer Neal Morgan.
2. How did Neal Morgan Photography start, and how long has the business been going?
Whilst studying Photography at the University of Derby, I bid for and won a pretty good commercial job. The company would only pay by invoice and only into a company account, so I set up my business.
3. Had you always wanted to be a photographer? Can you remember how old you were when you took your first picture and what it was of?
In all honesty, No, I never wanted to be a photographer. I remember, as a teenager, being frustrated when I tried photography on an old 35mm film camera. It was the digital age that piqued my interest.
4. Which areas of the UK do you cover? Do you go abroad?
I now live in Belgium which has excellent transport links to France, Holland, Germany and the UK. I can cover anywhere with a little notice.
I have my Belgiun residency card and TVA number as well as a nice burgundy UK passport.
5. How would you describe your style of photography?
I think my style of photography changes with each type of assignment I’m working on. Fashion and weddings, people based photography is lots of fun and very creative. The ideas seem to flow from my subjects, the way they move or something they will say. Commercial, IE: product Photography is more structured; there is usually a written brief that needs to be ticked off before I can ‘play’ with my own ideas.
6. Random question… What’s your favourite film?
The Lost Boys, I love a non bloody vampire film
7. What’s the best thing about the job?
Seeing happy people! Whether it’s shooting a happy couple on their wedding day or a happy client when they see their product looking fantastic.
8. Do you just do wedding photography?
I have always kept a good balance between people and product photography, both have their challenges as well as rewards.
9. Do you have a favourite picture you have taken (If you can choose!)? Please send to us.
This is the first photo I took on the day I left my last proper job.
10. What’s your top tip for choosing a wedding photographer?
Work out your wedding budget and add 10% to it, then look for photographers costing between 8 and 12% of your overall budget. Look at the pictures they have made, if you like there style and they are in budget make a list of your top three and arrange to meet them all before making your decision. You will, however know who to choose the second you meet them.
