Dan proposed on moving day! We were surrounded by boxes in our new house and completely exhausted lying on a mattress on the floor… we were talking about how much we love each other (as you do) and as a joke I said “prove it”… and wow… he pulled a ring out of his pocket and said, “OK, Hannah will you marry me!” Shocked is an understatement and after asking him if he was serious I immediately said yes and promptly burst into tears of happiness! It was the most amazing night and the best possible moving day I think you can ever have!
Where did you get married? We chose Woodborough Hall for both our ceremony and reception. I think the most honest reason for choosing the venue is simply because it suited us. The building itself is stunning and I guess you’d describe the venue as shabby chic. The ceremony room, the orangery provided simple elegance and an intimate setting. The main reason we chose Woodborough Hall though was the atmosphere we felt the place brought, it’s relaxed and you immediately feel comfortable. Dan and I wanted a wedding that was informal, relaxed, happy and with no stress and for us Woodborough Hall helped to provide that.
Where was your reception? See above
Who was your caterer? Woodborough Hall provided all our catering. From drinks reception after the ceremony to the wedding breakfast, two bars and evening buffet.
What was on your menu? Our Wedding breakfast consisted of King Prawns (with heads on – the perfect conversation starter!), Lamb Shank with dauphinoise potatoes and a trio of deserts including chocolate mousse, poached pears and lemon tart… gorgeous!
Tell us about your cake. My incredible mother-in-law made our cakes, she produced not one but 3 incredible cheesecakes which looked amazing but tasted even better! Our cheesecakes were vanilla with chocolate shavings on top wrapped in gorgeous purple ribbon to match our overall colour theme.
Who supplied your flowers, what did you have? Woods of Arnold were our florist. My bouquet was simple and elegant, with lilac and ivory roses, plus a mixture of greenery and darker purples (can’t remember names!). It wasn’t too formulated, had a loose look to it, which I felt worked perfectly for us as we didn’t want our day to be too structured or rigid. I thought all our flowers were absolutely stunning and we were delighted with the service we received.
Who designed your dress and where did it come from? Bought my dress from Bridal Suite in West Bridgford. Not sure who the designer was!
What shoes did you wear? My mum bought my shoes, they were simple, elegant and from the rainbow club.
Who did your make-up? I did my own makeup, well actually my bridesmaid Laura and I did my makeup. I wanted to feel like myself and natural and didn’t want to spend a fortune on paying someone to make me look amazing but not feel like me!
Who did your Hair? I actually went to Toni and Guy’s in the morning and just had a wash and blow dry – again natural look that didn’t break the bank. I actually think this is a great way to get your hair done as they make you feel special and for my bridesmaid (had her hair pinned up), myself (loose, natural) and my mum (again loose natural) the total bill was less than £90!
What was your first dance to and why? Our first song was “thank you for loving me” by Bon Jovi. We wanted something that wasn’t too sickly sweet but had beautiful lyrics and a great tune.
How long were you in planning your wedding? We were engaged for 9 months but actually planning the wedding I’d say we’d booked all the major things within 2 months and then chilled until the last one or two months when we finished off the rest! We didn’t dwell on the planning too much, more enjoyed our engagement and got caught up in ‘real life!’
Were you on budget? Yes, we actually managed to walk away with some savings!
What advice would you give a couple planning their wedding? I guess I would just say don’t dwell on the little things, this is a day you want to enjoy and celebrate with the people you love, not an event that should cause you sleepless nights!
Create a budget, stick to it and make all your decisions as a couple.
What is the brides most memorable part of the day? Marrying Dan and not being able to stop smiling. I have to agree with Dan that the photo shoot was great, it gave Dan and I time together without everyone else whilst not feeling forced or posed.
The whole day was incredible.
What is the grooms most memorable part of the day? The ceremony and the service, it was lovely. Also have incredibly vivid memories of the photo shoot after the service as it was great fun, playing silly buggers around the trees and bushes![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space height=”50px” css_animation=””][/vc_column][/vc_row]
